Formed in 1985 by medium Margaret Hewitt , Dedridge Spiritualist Church met in the former Youth Centre in Nigel Rise. However after giving up the church after a commitment in february 1987 Margaret passed the church on to Billy Black who was medium secretary at the time. Under Billy`s leadership the church has prospered and has now moved on to larger premises in the Crofthead Community Centre in Templar Rise .

 Being an independent church Billy has strived to keep the church alive by being progressive in its outlook and has been a forerunner in encouraging "new age " spiritual paths and demonstrations to be given weekly. Each week a different medium will visit the church to give their demonstration which as well as straight clairvoyance, this can also be given with crystals, photographs, psychometry

( personal objects), ribbons, sand readings, inspirational cards and angel cards

( not tarrot) and also flowers, occasionally there is a psychic artist present who gifts their drawing to the message recipients.

The doors open at 7pm each Wednesday evening with the meeting starting at 7.30. After the main service, healing takes place with spiritual healers. There is no admission charge and neither is there a charge for the healing or the tea or coffee after the main service, though in order for the church to meet its operating costs there is a voluntary collection.
